Carolyn Bessette style had been in front of us for about 28 years. I think Charlotte York’s office siren style is what Carolyn Bessette’s Style was about. 90s minimal styling approach defined her jet-setter looks. We should not be so surprised after all she was Calvin Clein’s publicist and no one defined the 90s minimalism better than Calvin Kelin. She was like a walking billboard of Calvin Kelin’s.
She had a lot of qualities of Quiet Luxury in her daily life. Before the Hermes bag was such a big thing, Carolyn Bessette did it first (even before Sex and The City, the infamous Hermes Birkin episode with Samantha’s outrage). She was the ultimate minimalist fashion-style girl before it was a thing among Instagram girlies. So we can say that her refined taste in fashion brought so many firsts in a sense.
It’s of course not only her fashion sense but her fairytale-like relationship with the most eligible bachelor, John F. Kennedy Jr. made people obsessed with her. After all her story had so many similarities with people’s Princess Diana, the Princess of Wales. Another beautiful woman with the greatest style and we again lost at such a young age in life.
I don’t want to write so much about her (here for that) but want to discuss her beautiful style. Let’s take a closer look at some of my favorite Carolyn Bessette style pieces over the years.

Minimalist Girl’s Uniform
I see a lot of similarities between her style and Charlotte York as I mentioned earlier. I can see Charlott going to an early walk and coffee run with this simple but very chic, effortless outfit.

Perfect Classic Benefit Outfit
I love everything about this look. Such a timeless look that It’s hard to believe that this was about 30 years ago.
You should always balance your looks to look elegant. Her skirt is somehow over the top but the way she balances her look with the simple white button-down shirt is just pure genius.
I can’t swear but pretty sure, The Row has a similar dress in one of their collections.
Masculine Energy
John F. Kennedy Jr. looked totally gorgeous here but Carolyn Bessette was the actual boss here. Her confidence in her look, in her skin, looks amazing.
I love the way she always leads the way. Go girl!
Perfect Wedding Dress
Her wedding dress has the same golden rule as the benefit dress above. You can wear this same wedding dress today and nothing looks outdated or ridiculous. This is what it means to have a true style sense.
Honeymoon in Turkey
The couple prefer their honeymoon in my home country Turkey. After a low-key wedding, they have gone the same route as their honeymoon destination. Perhaps escaping from the paparazzi was their idea of having a peaceful honeymoon.
Travel in Style to their honeymoon destination. The looks are nowhere close to the over-the-head airport styles of the 60s but It is chic enough and the comfort level looks also very good.
The Perfect Capsule Wardrobe Example
White button-downs with blue jeans and beige or black flats are perfect capsule wardrobe items. And I can imagine here she was wearing a flat and just wanted to fell the grass for a second kudos to her bare feet. 🙂
She was always timeless with her looks.
Everyday Chicness
When I see these photos, I feel sorry for her but admire them so much at the same time. Admire because she has excellent taste she looks perfectly timeless and chic in this day.
And I am sad for her, how her daily life was under so much scrutiny and every move of her way under the radar all the time.
