DeMellier New York Bag Review – 4 Reasons Why to Purchase with Pros and Cons

I have a soft spot for emerging brands like Danse Lente, Yuzefi, Polene and Demellier London. I have followed Demellirer London closely for the last couple of years and have decided to write a review about my experience with the brand. I have purchased the Demellier New York Large Tote Bag and decided to give you my two cents about this beautiful bag.

The DeMellier New York bag comes in three different sizes. I chose the large one. It is super big if you want this bag for both work and travel purposes.  This bag also reminds me of my very large tote bag from Promod, A French fast fashion brand, back when I studied in Germany. It was one of my favorites. As usual, things were popular in the early 2010s get back in style, and I think the DeMellier New York bag has the resemblance of infamous Celine Trapeze bag, but we can say that it is a reimagining version with a bit of Hermes Kelly belt twist.

So I am not surprised so many seek after this bag, including me.

The Design and Style

As I mentioned above, the bag feels like a love child of Celine Trapeze and Hermes Kelly bags. The Gold belted detail makes it the style classic and timless. One of the design problems I see is that you can’t carry this bag as a shoulder bag. The bag I had from Promod has a longer shoulder strap. I used to carry all my college bags in that bag as a shoulder bag.

On the other hand, this bag is only a handbag, which makes it classic and timeless. It would be best if you decided your reasoning for buying this bag at this point. It will definitely look chic, but if you want to carry it as a shoulder bag, the crossbody strap will make that part tricky.

The Quality

The DeMellier New York bag has soft-grained leather. I am all about soft leather bags, so I love them for this reason. But sometimes leather feels plasticky, you know, the very soft vegan ones. At the same time, the brand has the indicator that its suppliers are certified by the European Leather Working Group and guarantee the highest standards of sustainability and sourcing. The Value

The bag is expensive, but compared to designer bags like Celine and Hermes, it is way more affordable than those big brand names. At the same time, these emerging brands have much higher organizational costs since they create businesses, suppliers, and ateliers, everything from scratch and enter a very competitive market. If you want to support smaller businesses rather than spending on the same group of brands, that makes the same corporations rich.

I actually love my bag. Compared with my YSL tote bag, I use this bag whenever I feel more outgoing and chic. And the quality is somehow similar to one-third of its size.

Size

I love that this bag comes in three different sizes. Large (mine), medium and mini. Personally I love the large looks better than other two sizes but at the same time If your not a working girl who needs to carry laptop etc, midi version still do the work in my opinion and the midi’s size still comes with a very spacious interior. That’s why I gave 5 star to its size.
