The Most Romantic Restaurants in Calgary

They say the fastest way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. If that’s the case, why leave things to chance? Let’s bring in the professionals!

Are you nervous about making a good first impression? Looking for a long-term partner you can shop Calgary homes for sale with? Have you already found that special someone and want to remind them just how special they are?

Whatever you need, Calgary’s local dining scene has plenty of skilled chefs and restaurateurs to help you seal the deal.

For the Fateful First Date…

Picking the right restaurant for a first date is arguably even more important than picking the right outfit. You want to find the right balance between impressive, fun, relaxed, and romantic.

A good way to raise everyone’s spirits is with, well, spirits. To that end, the craft beers and ciders at Rain Dog Bar are just as hip as the cozy décor, while the rustic-with-a-twist menu features a wide range of charcuterie and conserva alongside unique entrees like nduja sausage, bavette steak, and lemon-and-cheese pierogies.

Alternatively, if your thirst leans more towards cocktails, the topical-themed Ricardo’s Hideaway. In addition to having more than 100 different varieties of rum to sip your way through, diners can split Spanish-style plates of ahi tuna ceviche, empanadas, or curried goat.

For Popping the Question…

Once you’ve found the partner of your dreams, you might be itching to make that dream come true. You can’t just propose anywhere, of course. This is a moment that you’ll both remember for the rest of your lives, after all.

When it comes to being memorable, it’s hard to beat Sky 360. As the name implies, this restaurant offers diners a stunning 360-degree view of the city from a height of more than 155 meters. Even better, the entire restaurant actually rotates around Calgary Tower, all while you dine on decadent dishes like duck confit or the chef’s signature market-fresh seafood bouillabaisse.

Not one for heights? The Deane House may be closer to planet Earth, but it’s no less out of this world. This historic, turn-of-century manor has several unique themed rooms, including a book-lined “library,” a garden-encircled patio, and a rustic dining chamber complete with moose-antler chandelier! The menu is equally singular, with seasonal offerings like bison brisket and mushroom-and-chickpea ragu.

For the Big Anniversary…

A long-lasting and love-filled relationship is its own reward. That doesn’t mean you and your partner don’t deserve an extra reward to celebrate your years together, mind you.

The staff at Teatro know a thing or two about building an enduring legacy. This stately and stylish staple of Calgary’s culinary scene has been wowing couples for more than a quarter-century with its tasteful architecture and tasty Mediterranean cuisine, featuring everything from squid-ink linguini, handmade gnocchi, and wood-fired wagyu striploin (not to mention a wine cellar with over 10,000 bottles).

Even older than Teatro is the refurbished 19th-century bar at The Lake House. Perched above Lake Bonavista, The Lake House’s huge glass windows offer a view almost as extraordinary as the rich flavors of such dishes as its spicy jerk chicken and peppercorn-crusted ribeye.
