Burberry Lightweight Quilted Coat Review

It’s that time of year again—the crazy freezing weather is here. Today, while I am writing this piece of content for you, the weather is 35 F, but my Google assistant is telling me that, in fact, it feels like 25 F. For my European readers, it’s 2 Celsius, and the feeling is like minus 2 Celsius. So, I decided to write a Burberry Lightweight Quilted Coat Review for this meaningful day.

I was already thinking about writing this review, but it’s a good thing I waited a little bit longer to test it out my newly purchased coat. Does this coat work for crazy, freezing, cold weather?

Performance (4.5/5)

Yes, It does!

But before I explain, I bought it on the last Black Friday deals at Bloomingdale’s. They were about $550. The original price was between $750 and $800 for different websites. (The price has been spiked to $1,550 at this point)

So why did I pick Burberry? This is a question I asked myself after I made this purchase. I could have gone with much more cheaper versions. But I wanted to buy something classic, an investment piece that hopefully I can wear over the years. It has a very cute style. It doesn’t look like ugly, huge buffer ones. Ever since my husband developed this obsession with the Uniqlo Ultra Light Down jacket, I have wanted a lightweight parka for crazy New York cold weather, but at the same time, I don’t want to be seen like Michelin guy. 🙂

Style – Quiet Fashion (5/5)

It has tiny Burberry’s classic print/pattern here and there. Not too much if you don’t like your clothes to scream brands all over. We can say this coat is the meaning of quiet luxury before that was a thing. The entire lining inside has that pattern, but nobody will see it. If you use an unzip pattern lining, little details in the arms can be seen, and finally, the hood lining also has this iconic pattern.

Other than these details, this coat does not feature a Burberry logo craziness. I enjoy subtle branding in clothes. In my opinion, the logo should be a surprise. If you know, you know, it is the best approach. Otherwise, it seems a bit tacky.

Sizing (5/5)

When you wear a sweater and then put this coat on, it actually works. I actually have worn one of those heat technology tights from Uniqlo underneath my summer jeans. Then I put on my Express Pink Sweater today and put my Burberry Baughton Quilted Coat on top. I didn’t even bother to buckle my neck area without a scarf, and I survived this cold.

Quality (3.5/5)

The only problem, in my opinion, is in the zipper area. I’ve seen the same issue in one or two reviews on Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s websites. The zipper sometimes caught up with the fabric. That is the only problem I have. If you have the same issue, exchange your item. Most people didn’t even mention that issue. I guess it’s on some products. But still, when you spend top dollars, you expect top-notch quality.

Burberry, with the new creative director Daniel Lee, has high expectations from the market. However, US consumers also have high expectations for this 168-year-old brand. If Burberry not only focuses on what to offer in different designs to become a new Bottega but also focuses on its long history of quality, I think it can make a difference in the luxury world with many quality issues nowadays.

So, my overall experience is 4/5. I recommend this coat for this holiday season as a gift for someone you love.
