I did make a list for what to wear in New Year party in my previous blog post. I made a clear point about me loving elegant looks in every kind of party.
I took this throwing party business very serious this year. I insisted my friends about my “Black Tie” themed party. According to wikipedia:
For men, the elements of black tie are:
- A white dress shirt
- A black bow tie
- An evening waistcoat
- A Dinner jacket (called a Tuxedo in the United States), of black or midnight blue wool, in which the jacket lapels and trouser braid are of silk or other contrasting material
- Black dress shoes.
Women’s dress for black tie occasions has varied greatly through the years; traditionally it was:
- Evening shoes
- Dinner (ankle) or tea (below mid-calf) length sleeveless evening gown, often accompanied by: a wrap or stole and gloves
Today women’s dress for black tie occasions is:
- Evening shoes and
- A ballgown or cocktail dress.
Of course mine was not a serious black tie party. I can only say that boys seriously worn tie and girls were really nicely dressed.
Even we have a shoes off house, I let people get in to apartment with their shoes this time. Think about it, everybody come to my party really chic but I ask from them to take their shoes of. It could be really bizarre thing to do.
I had concerns before our friends come. Because you know some people really love to be free as much as possible during the new year parties. What if they didn’t show up because of my black tie dress code. :S Luckily all of friends promised to come and they were nicely fashioned. Around 10 p.m. we had at least 10 more people from our new building. People were so nice.
They brang their prosecco, champagne as I told my party event page. Our party was a total international one. We were 40 people at some point. We started to drag people from the hallway to the our party. We have guests who are originally from Belgium, Switzerland, Dominican Republic, South Korea, India, New Zealand, Kosovo, China, Indonesia, Croatia, Ukraine and of course Turkey. It is not surprising to find so many different cultures in New York but in tiny house party? It was so much FUN.
I can easily say that It was incredibly successful party. Who knows where we will be next year?
