Valentino Haute Couture Fall 2019 Collection Review

Couture week came to a grand close with the works of Valentino. Pierpaolo Piccioli gifted the runway with fully saturated hues, extravagant textures, and a strong cultural message. Supermodels Naomi Campbell, Heidi Klum, and the illustrious Lauren Hutton were in attendance. Below, you can watch the showing of the Valentino Haute Couture Fall 2019 collection in its entirety.

The Looks

Soft lilac and lime green are complimented with a strong orange and dark green in a powerful array of color. This look is one of the more subtle showcased by Valentino. However, details like the wooly fringe, sequin gloves, and the bow heels are undoubtedly high couture.

Simple in the front and sexy in the back, this green on green ensemble is polarizing. Exposed shoulder blades demand attention and the voluminous overcoat draping at the elbows leaves you wanting more. I love the disruption of color with lilac at the feet.

Pink is my all-time favorite color so there’s no way I could bypass this look. The way the sharp line of lime green juts from the long belted coat really make this high fashion. Also, I deeply appreciate the Afro-centric hairstyle on the model.

Fit for an empress, this flowing, length gown sweeps across the floor with ease. Meanwhile a breathtaking headdress captures the audience. The bulbous tassels and brass coins are akin to the ancient crowns worn by Greek royalty.

In a cascade of blue, this ethereal hooded gown reminds me of African goddess Yemaya – the mother and queen of the sea. Whimsical waves are weaved high above the waist and descend into sheer, fae-like tulle.

Gorgeous does not even begin to describe this shimmering, iridescent Valentino original. With every step, the dress catches the light and sparkles. Piccioli’s craftmanship is evident in the level of pain-staking detail in both the gown and the headpiece.
